Finance Automation Using AI Solutions for Small Business

Like many small business owners and professionals, I struggled with overspending and scattered financial data.

Even though I tracked every transaction in the Wallet by BudgetBakers app and purchased its premium plan, I couldn’t gain strategic clarity. The numbers were there — but no actionable insights, no automation, no daily improvement loop.

What I needed wasn’t another app — I needed an intelligent automation system that could act like an advisor, helping me evaluate spending and guide better behaviour.

My first idea was to export my data daily and ask ChatGPT for analysis, but doing that manually every morning defeated the purpose of smart automation and personal productivity.

How AI Tools for Small Business Inspired My Solution

To solve this, I engineered my own AI automation solution — a lightweight, modular system inspired by how modern business automation improves efficiency through data pipelines and intelligent assistants.

I began by leveraging the Wallet app’s web version, which allowed me to automatically extract transaction and balance data using a custom scraper that I developed and deployed on my server.

My developed scraper logs in securely, collects the last two months of transactions, and exposes them through a small API, similar to how AI consulting for small companies often builds quick integrations around existing tools.

Next, I integrated this API with n8n, my preferred quick workflow automation platform, and connected Telegram as a conversational layer.

- I can ask questions like “How much did I spend yesterday?” in Telegram.

- The automation workflow fetches my latest data, sends it to an AI model, and receives a contextual answer.

- The AI’s response comes straight to my Telegram chat — in seconds.

The system also sends me daily spending summaries via email and Telegram, similar to what I often build as smart automation tools for clients.

This project turned my repetitive manual reviews into a fully automated AI-driven financial advisor.
